FAQ

Floorplans
I live far from your headquarters. Do you build projects in my city?

Yes! In fact, our projects can be found in homes all over the world. We entirely build and assemble your secret door at our factory before shipment. We also rigorously test the door. When it arrives to you, it can typically be easily installed by a local contractor.

Can you also install the secret door?

Yes. However, our doors are designed for ease of installation. In most cases the secret door will arrive pre-hung, allowing the client to save significant cost by having the door installed by a local contractor.

Can you match my existing woodwork?

Yes. We match finishes on almost every project and we have never had a complaint of an imperfect match. Our master woodworker is extremely well versed in a wide range of wood designs.

Do your doors come with a warranty?

Yes. All of our products come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and a 2-year warranty.

Can I put a secret passage in my existing home?

Yes, secret doors are often added in to existing homes. Just find a closet, bedroom, or storage room that you would like to convert to a secret room and give us a call. Adding a secret passage can often transform a basic space in to an extraordinary one – adding tremendous functionality and home value along the way.

What does it cost?

As with all custom construction projects, the cost is determined on a case-by-case basis and depends on the scope of the project. Please refer to our How to Buy page for details on project types and prices.

What is the lead time?

Lead times depend on the complexity of the project and the time of the order. Typical lead times are about 8 weeks from receipt of the deposit.

What are the electrical requirements?

Most of our automated doors require a standard 110VAC power supply available at the center of the header at the top of the door jamb. Manual doors require no power. Some styles of doors can be configured to run off of battery power.

What if the power goes out?

When placing an order, clients choose between “fail-safe” and “fail-secure” configurations. Fail safe doors unlock in the event of power failure, whereas fail secure doors remain locked. Every door has a failsafe exit switch that ensures nobody is trapped in their secret room. Depending on the intended application, some clients will opt for backup power methods – these are relatively inexpensive. Whatever your needs, there is a solution.

Can you sell me just the hinges and electronics?

No. Our doors are literally built around our hinge and electrical systems. It would be more difficult and expensive to coach an alternate wood supplier on how to incorporate our hinges and electronics than it would be for us to make the complete door.
